Hostel California Evicted?

There is a hostel where Brian Kerns and I stayed at when we came out to Los Angeles this summer. Hostel California, a cozy little place down on Lincoln Blvd in Venice, CA… seems to be closed now. I went by there today to try and find an acquaintance who works there, only to see an eviction notice on the door. Accompanying it was a hand written note that said the doors would be open tomorrow (undated) for people to grab any of their last stuff. Pretty crazy stuff! If anyone has any details about this, please email me. Brian also noted an article pertaining to a man who died at a hostel in Santa Monica – maybe the reporter got the city wrong and this is the real cause?

  1. I’m trying to find out what date the Hostel California closed. I tried their tel yesterday and there is a recording that the number is no longer in service. What month did you stay there this summer? Maybe I can do a little digging and find out what happened.

    1. Hi Jeff,

I managed to meet up with someone who I stayed with there (he works on the Venice beach boardwalk). He was staying there when it closed. Apparently, the owners couldn’t pay their bills and the police came in and shut them down. Really a shame, it was an alright place with nice people.
